Chris Aronsten

I'm an Australian musician based in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. This is my local gig circuit and I also spend a lot of time each year playing in Central Australia. Some of the songs on my albums "Venus and the Sun" and "The Road to Ballyvaughn" were written out there, inspired by the beautiful desert country and its people.

I'm a singer and multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, mandolin, fiddle, harmonica, spoons and stompbox. A typical solo performance includes original songs and selected covers played on the various instruments. I like to blend the songs with fiddle tunes, bluegrass flatpicking, and instrumentals on the mandolin, to build up what I hope is a dynamic and exciting performance.

In recent years I've performed with quite a few touring folk musicians from England and Ireland. I've done two Australian tours with Maddy Prior in 2000 and 2002. I've played supports twice with Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick, Bert Janch, Christy Moore, Seamus Begley and Jim Murray, Lunasa and Fairport Convention.

I’ve also performed at numerous festivals including Woodford, Maldon and the National Folk Festival in Australia as well as the Warwick Folk Festival and the Broadstairs Folk Week in Kent in the U.K.
